No journey to Luxor would be worth without going to the Valley of the Kings, the must-see! You enter 3 tombs to see the hieroglyphics. While there you can see the most famous tomb of all: Tutankhamen (extra). Next, you will admire the amazing architecture of Hatshepsut’s Temple carved entirely from a cliff face. The tour starts with the visit of the royal necropolis of Valley of Queens. Then you head for Medinet Habu, the Mortuary Temple honouring Ramses III. Finally you’ll see the Valley of the Nobles, with rock cut tombs of Nobles, and high officials of ancient Egypt. (option: the Deir El Medina, the Valley of the workers. Once home of the artisans that built the Pharaohs’ tombs). Absolutely fascinating.

Visit of the magnificent Luxor and Karnak temples on the East Bank. Dedicated to Amun Ra, the Temple of Karnak is the largest temple in the world. It was connected to Luxor Temple, a monument to Ramesses the Great, by the Avenue of the Sphinxes.

The Karnak S&L Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes and the achievements of some of the great Pharaohs with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. Ancient and poetic voices will tell you about the birth of Karnak Temple and the heroic achievements of the Pharaohs and the god Amun. Two days tour to visit the amazing Temple of Ramses II and Aswan. Arrive in Aswan and visit the High Dam, a feat of modern engineering. Afterwards, board a motor launch for a ride along the river to Philae Temple, a beautifully preserved island temple dedicated to the god Isis. After an early start the next day, you’ll set off for Abu Simbel, a rockcut Great Temple fronted by two colossal figures of Ramses II, set on the world’s largest reservoir, Lake Nasser. A truly memorable trip.

A felucca is a local sail boat, which benefits from the winds on the Nile, and whenever possible, also the streams and it a must in Luxor… So enjoy a romantic 1 hour felucca trip seeing the sun setting on the Nile.

The Temple of Edfu is an ancient Egyptian temple in the city of Edfu which was known in Greco-Roman times as Apollonopolis Magna, after the chief god Horus-Apollo. It is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt and it is dedicated to the falcon god Horus.

DENDERA

North of Luxor, Dendera was one of several temples built during the Ptolemaic period, including Edfu, Esna, Kom Ombo and Philae. It is dedicated to the Goddess of love Hathor and is unique for still having an intact roof.

ABYDOS & DENDERA

The temple that the Greeks called the Memnonium in Abydos, actually dedicated to Seti I, Osiris and Isis along with Ptah, Ptah-Sokar, Nefertem, Re-Horakhty, Amun, and Horus, is one of the major archaeological sites in that region. It was begun by Seti I and finished by his son, the great Ramesses II. In fact, this structure built of fine white limestone is actually one of the most impressive religious structures in Egypt. After the visit of the temple we head for Dendera (2 hours) and visit the temple dedicated to the Goddess of love Hathor.

NILE CRUISE TO DENDERA

This trip combines a Nile cruise with a visit to the stunning temple of Dendera. You will enjoy a day of sailing along the peaceful river viewing the farming villages along the river banks. Upon arrival in Dendera you will visit the temple dedicated to the Goddess of love Hathor. During your return cruise to Luxor lunch and tea/coffee are served onboard.
